MOBOPINONS Mobile APP based Technology Matches Actual Results of Vote

Results Highlighted to the Leave Campaign in APRIL showed the need to change their messaging from the “£300m Weekly Cost Savings” to “Take Back Control”

Mitchell Barak of MOBOPINIONS explains: “The reason that pollsters like YouGov, IPSOS MORI, ComRes, ORB, Populus and others got it wrong is because they ‘are still polling like it’s 1999’, using outdated methodology that has been proven wrong time and time again. Survey research companies need to wake up and cut their losses, abandon their inherent and structural bias in data collection, and move over to where the people are – on mobile devices.”

MOBOPINIONS, a UK based start-up headquartered in London successfully predicted the votes of Millennials in the Referendum on exiting the EU held last week. In a poll released to the media on 24 April via Presswire, they reported that 69% of British Millennials ages 18 – 34 were planning on voting to REMAIN in the European Union. The poll was unique in that it was conducted exclusively on mobile devices, both Android and iOS, and was the first poll to be published that focused on the Millennial community.

When breaking down the REMAIN votes by age group, MOBOPINIONS reported that 74% of 18 – 24 year olds, and 64% of 25 – 34 year olds intended to vote REMAIN on the upcoming Referendum. The leading exit poll of 12,369 voters reported on the BBC put the 18-24 year old vote to REMAIN at 73% and the 25 – 34 year old vote at 62%. The actual results of the Referendum were within 2% of MOBOPINIONS’ poll published in April.

Mitchell Barak, a respected pollster and public opinion expert, and co-founder at MOBOPINIONS said: “MOBOPINIONS got it right because we are polling people in their most comfortable and natural habitat – their mobile phones. We have access to 600 million people worldwide who are ready to answer our surveys, within APPS they already use. The reason that pollsters like YouGov, IPSOS MORI, ComRes, ORB, Populus and others got it wrong is because they ‘are still polling like it’s 1999.’ They are using outdated methodology that is antiquated and has been proven wrong time and time again. Survey research companies need to wake up and cut their losses, abandon their inherent and structural bias in data collection, and move over to where the people are – on mobile devices. These research companies have invested millions and millions of pounds building online panels over the past few years and they all know that paid panelists are not good survey respondents. Telephone polls conducted by ComRes and others were even more inaccurate, due, to landlines becoming obsolete, as people switch to mobile. The survey research industry is one of the few that can still sell products and services whose expiry date has past.”

MOBOPINIONS, a UK startup established in 2014 and headquartered in London, has developed a unique technology based around their proprietary mobile survey research platform, that reaches over 600 million monthly respondents, in 160 countries, within thousands of existing apps on smartphones and tablets. The platform enables survey researchers and brands to gain the opinions of their mobile audiences accurately, quickly, and efficiently, through a cost effective manner, that uses existing app based data to know a user’s location, demographics and device specific information, including their Device Ad ID which can used with Facebook, Google or any other digital advertiser to mass market to people displaying similar behavioural attributes. All data gathered is compliant with privacy guidelines.
